This is the goddess as nurturing mother. She places her baby son, Skanda, on her lap while she rides her lion in all her majesty. Her story reminds us of the caring, strong, and loving love that every mother possesses.
Day 6: Katyayani (The Fierce Warrior)
This is the courageous warrior who battled the buffalo demon! With a roar of courage, she rode into battle upon her lion, her numerous weapons glinting in the light. She teaches us to be courageous and to always do what is right.
Day 7: Kaalratri (The Destroyer of Darkness)
She is fierce-eyed to battle the most frightful demons. But fear not! She is a superhero who does not tremble at night because she vanquishes the night itself, rendering the world safe for all.
Day 8: Mahagauri (The Extremely Fair One)
After the great battle, she washed off all the grime and was as white and clean as a jasmine flower. She symbolizes a clean, new start, filling our hearts with forgiveness and peace.
Day 9: Siddhidatri (The Granter of Wishes)
Seated on a mystical lotus flower, she is flanked by gods. She imparts special boons and knowledge to her devotees. She reminds us that when we are kind and good, wonderful things can occur.
