One sunny afternoon, little Nina lay on her back in the soft green grass. Her toes wiggled in the warm earth, and the breeze gently rustled the leaves above. It was her favorite kind of day\u2014bright, breezy, and perfect for watching clouds.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Up in the sky, white, fluffy clouds floated lazily like cotton candy. Nina loved finding shapes in them. \u201cThat one looks like a dancing bear,\u201d she whispered. \u201cAnd that one looks like a rocket ship!\u201d She giggled at her own imagination.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then, something unusual caught her eye. Among all the happy, bright clouds was one small, lonely-looking grey cloud. It wasn\u2019t fluffy. It wasn\u2019t floating with the others. Instead, it hovered low and looked sad.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly, tiny raindrops began to fall from it. Plip. Plop. Plip. One landed on Nina\u2019s nose, making her wrinkle it and smile.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cHey, little cloud,\u201d she called gently, \u201cwhy are you crying?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grey cloud floated closer and sniffled. \u201cI want to be like the other clouds. They paint the sky with colors during sunsets, make fun shapes, and look so beautiful. But all I ever do is cry rain. I\u2019m not special.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina sat up and thought for a moment. Then she smiled. \u201cBut\u2026 your raindrops help the flowers grow, don\u2019t they?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cloud blinked in surprise. \u201cThey do? Really?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOf course!\u201d said Nina, standing up and spreading her arms wide. \u201cWatch this!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just then, as the soft rain kissed the ground, something magical happened. Little green sprouts poked through the soil. Buds opened their petals to the sky. Yellow sunflowers stretched tall, bluebells nodded in the breeze, red roses bloomed brightly, and tiny white daisies popped up all around.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The grass turned greener, the earth smelled fresher, and the whole field shimmered with color and life.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cloud gasped. \u201cI did that? Me?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina nodded. \u201cYes! You don\u2019t paint the sky like the others\u2014but you paint the earth. Look at all these flowers. Without you, they wouldn\u2019t grow. That\u2019s something only you can do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The little cloud stopped crying. Its grey color began to fade. Slowly, it puffed up into a soft white, fluffy shape. It felt lighter, happier. A gentle breeze came by and lifted it higher into the sky.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m an artist too!\u201d the cloud said, giggling. It did a little spin in the air. \u201cI thought I wasn\u2019t good enough, but I just needed to see what I could do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nina clapped and twirled in the grass. \u201cYou\u2019re more than good enough! You help the earth bloom.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

From that day on, the little cloud never felt sad when it rained. It understood now that not all beauty is up in the sky sometimes, it grows from the ground up.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Every time it dropped its gentle rain, it imagined the colorful gardens and smiling faces it was helping create. And every time Nina saw the rain, she smiled too. She would run outside, twirl in the drops, and whisper, \u201cThank you, little cloud, for painting the world again.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
