In the quiet corner of a balcony closet, nestled between a forgotten raincoat and a pair of muddy boots, hung a colorful umbrella named Dome. He wasn\u2019t just any umbrella\u2014he was bright red and blue, with cheerful yellow polka dots and a curved wooden handle that had once sparkled like honey. But now, in the middle of a long, sunny summer, Dome just hung there\u2026 waiting.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/em><\/strong> \u201cNo one needs me anymore,\u201d Dome muttered sadly. \u201cThe sun is always shining, the skies are clear. I\u2019m useless.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just then, a dusty cap hanging on a hook nearby gave a gentle shake. \u201cOh, come on, Dome,\u201d the cap said. \u201cYou\u2019re not useless. It\u2019s just not your season. Your time will come.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dome sighed again. \u201cEasy for you to say. The boy wears you to school every day.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cap chuckled kindly. \u201cThat\u2019s true. But seasons change, my friend. You\u2019ll see.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As if the sky had heard their conversation, a rumble echoed in the distance. It started low and soft, then grew louder. CRACK-BOOM! Thunder rolled across the sky like a giant drum. The wind whooshed through the trees, and clouds\u2014thick and dark\u2014gathered above.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inside the house, the boy looked up from his schoolbag, eyes wide. \u201cMama! It\u2019s raining! My books will get soaked!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

His mother peeked out the window and gasped. \u201cOh dear, it\u2019s pouring already! Wait\u2014let\u2019s take Dome!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She hurried to the balcony closet, pulled the door open, and reached up for the umbrella. Dome\u2019s heart skipped. \u201cMe? Really?\u201d he whispered in excitement.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

With a flick, the mom opened Dome wide. WHOOOSH! His bright colors bloomed again, and his fabric stretched proudly, catching the scent of the rain.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWow!\u201d the boy exclaimed. \u201cDome, you\u2019re so big and bright!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dome couldn\u2019t stop smiling as the boy held him tight and stepped into the rain. Droplets bounced harmlessly off Dome\u2019s surface. Pitter-patter, splish-splash\u2014rain fell all around, but not a single drop touched the boy.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis is what I was made for!\u201d Dome shouted joyfully as they walked down the street. He shielded the boy like a superhero\u2019s cape, proud and tall. Puddles splashed, cars whooshed by, and other children ran for cover\u2014but the boy and Dome walked dry and calm through the storm.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When they reached the school gate, the teacher smiled and nodded. \u201cSmart boy! You stayed dry because you were prepared.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The boy beamed, patting Dome\u2019s handle. \u201cThanks to Dome!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dome blushed under the rain. \u201cRain or shine,\u201d he said softly, \u201cwe all have our moments to shine.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Back at the closet that evening, Dome dripped gently as he dried near the window. The cap chuckled again. \u201cTold you,\u201d he said warmly.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dome nodded, still glowing with pride. \u201cYou were right. I just had to wait.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And from somewhere deep in the closet, a soft voice\u2014Tuko the toy turtle\u2014spoke up for the first time that season. \u201cJust because you\u2019re waiting doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019re forgotten.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dome smiled, now feeling lighter, warmer, even as the rain poured outside.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Moral of the Story:
