It was a gloomy afternoon. The sky was grey, clouds rumbled above, and rain pattered gently on the windows of Yuvi\u2019s home. She sat by the large window, chin resting on her hand, tracing raindrops as they slid down the glass. Everything looked quiet and wet outside.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But then\u2026 something moved near the flower pots just below the window.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Squinting her eyes, Yuvi leaned closer and gasped. Two tiny kittens, soaked to the bone, were huddled near the base of the pot. Their soft mews for help barely rose above the sound of the falling rain. They looked frightened, shivering in the cold.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi\u2019s heart thumped.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Without wasting a second, she jumped off the sofa, grabbed her umbrella and an old cardboard box, and ran out the front door.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYuvi! Where are you going?\u201d her mom called, but Yuvi was already outside, her shoes splashing in the puddles.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

She crouched down beside the kittens. \u201cIt\u2019s okay, little ones,\u201d she whispered, carefully scooping them up and placing them inside the box. She covered the box with her umbrella and hurried back home, her clothes slowly getting soaked.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mom opened the door just as Yuvi stepped back in, water dripping off her umbrella.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYuvi, what do you have there?\u201d her mom asked, surprised.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi looked up, her cheeks red from the cold. \u201cMom, I found these two kittens outside, crying and shivering in the rain. I couldn\u2019t leave them there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her mother\u2019s expression softened. She gently peered into the box and saw the kittens curled up, their eyes wide and frightened.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cYuvi,\u201d she said with a proud smile, \u201cyou\u2019ve done such a kind and compassionate thing. Come, let\u2019s dry them off and feed them something warm.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi beamed.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Together, they wrapped the kittens in a soft towel. Yuvi patted them gently, humming to calm them down. They brought out a small bowl of warm milk, and the kittens lapped it up eagerly. Yuvi laughed as one of them sneezed adorably.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Later that evening, Yuvi sat by the kittens, watching them sleep in a cozy corner of the room. She looked up at her mom and asked, \u201cWhat should we do with them, Mom? Should we let them go?\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her mother shook her head. \u201cNo, beta. Tomorrow, we\u2019ll take them to a pet adoption home. It\u2019s a place where animals like these are cared for, and kind people come to adopt them. They\u2019ll find new homes and friends there.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi nodded. \u201cThat sounds nice. But I\u2019m going to miss them\u2026\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI know,\u201d Mom said, stroking Yuvi\u2019s hair. \u201cBut being kind also means knowing when to let go\u2014for their happiness.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The sun peeked out as Yuvi and her mother drove to the local pet adoption center. Yuvi sat quietly in the back seat, the box of kittens resting on her lap. The kittens peeked through the small holes, their eyes now curious instead of scared.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The center was bright and cheerful. It had small, clean homes for cats and dogs, each with a name tag and a warm blanket inside. Some animals played in a small garden while others napped peacefully.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi carried the box in carefully. A kind lady welcomed them and said, \u201cThese kittens are lucky. We\u2019ll make sure they\u2019re safe and happy.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Yuvi gently placed the kittens into a cozy little bed in their new room. One of the kittens rubbed its head against her hand, and Yuvi smiled through misty eyes.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

As she walked out holding her mom\u2019s hand, she looked back one last time.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI hope they find a family who loves them,\u201d she whispered.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThey will,\u201d her mom said. \u201cThanks to you.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
